Advice and Support
Sense Scotland is a leader in the field of complex communication support needs and promotes the use of innovative services for people who are often marginalised when traditional models of support are used. We offer a range of flexible, responsive services for children, young people and adults whose communication support needs result from a range of impairments including deafblindness; sensory impairment; physical or learning disabilities. Our services are designed alongside people to provide continuity across age groups and we work closely with families and with colleagues from health, education, social work and housing.
Referrals and enquiries are welcomed from people seeking support, carers and professionals.
We are available to respond to initial phone calls from 8-30am until 5-30pm, Monday to Friday, as a minimum, and can arrange to call you back at a time that suits you.
A number of staff use BSL, as well as a number of other communication systems.
Accessibility requirements are determined with each person we support, and are a key aspect of all we do.
Family Advisors and other staff are happy to meet in people's own homes to discuss their support requirements.
We are happy to provide hourly rates, rates for shared activities, or to help you consider how you may wish to spend your budget on non-staff costs.
