Quarriers Family Resource Centre

MyPad lets you save links to information that you have found on Your Support Your Way Glasgow and want to go back to later. You can also add your own notes and update them whenever you wish. If you are signed in to your user account, MyPad will save your links and notes until you delete them. If you are not signed in, the links and notes are saved until you leave the website. If you do not already have one, then you can create a user account.

Service summary

Quarriers Family Resource Centre works with families experiencing difficulties. These difficulties can arise as a result of a range of issues such as poverty, domestic abuse or mental health issues.

Quarriers Family Centre provides support to families with children up to the age of 12 years.

Referrals
Self-referrals are welcome, as are referrals from relatives, social work, health visitors, GPs, PACT team; Anyone can refer a family to the centre as long as the person being referred is in agreement. Click here for link to List of Glasgow Social Work Offices.

Client groups


Service details

The centre offers the following sessions and activities:
  • Flexible nursery provision for full time equivalent for 0-2-year-olds and 2-3-year-olds, 52 weeks of year.

  • Home visits and advice from nursery staff regarding children and families development and wellbeing. 

  • Cooking groups to promote healthy eating.

  • A dads group for local dads and male carers which offers advice and peer support as well as fun activities such as cooking and fishing.

  • Dads and kids group which offer dads peer support and an opportunity to spend valuable quality time with their child.

  • Growing Together, a group based on building on bonding and relationships with your child/children and the importance of this. It also offers help and advice on development as well as peer support.

  • Women’s group offering peer support, and the chance to take part in activities such as jewellery making and roller skating. This provides women with a chance to meet other people, talk about issues which affect them and take part in fun activities.

  • Classes in baby massage.

  • Voices for Change enables people who use the centre to have their say in its future direction.

  • Trained play therapist who offers one-to-one support with children.

  • Befriending service
Outcomes
  • Healthy and well developed children confident in their abilities. A good role model/mentor.

  • Quality time spent with parents, time to enjoy fun outings and activities, and assistance with homework. A time to bond with family and to feel loved and supported.

  • Time in nursery crèche and opportunity to play with friends in a nurturing environment designed with the child’s holistic development at the centre.

  • Having the opportunity to express their views and opinions and having them valued and supported.

  • Children gain a good role model and mentor. Child gets to spend quality one-to-one time with a friend who they can share issues or problems with, or simply have someone to listen to their ideas and opinions.

  • Parents have access to help and support regarding their children’s development and wellbeing.

  • Respite and full-time care to enable parents/carers to have a break or to return to work/education.

  • Peer support and quality time with their child.

  • Help and advice when required.

  • Access to enjoyable activities.

  • Time to spend with your child learning to establish positive bonds and attachment.

  • Time to discuss issues and get professional advice.

  • Time away from being a mum to enjoy new experiences and activities.

  • Opportunity to express views and opinions and having them valued and supported

  • Knowledge and peace of mind that their child is receiving professional support.
