Carers Information Line

All unpaid carers looking after someone resident in Glasgow are eligible for carer support with a universal offer of information and advice for all as a minimum.


What is the Carers information Line (CIL)?

The Carers information Line (CIL) provides citywide information and advice about how people who have a caring role can be supported.

Glasgow Association for Mental Health (GAMH) operates the Carers Information Line on behalf of Glasgow City Carers Partnership.

Who can contact the CIL?

This line is open to all unpaid carers family and friends in any geographical location across the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Area.

The CIL is also open to family, friends and health and social care staff looking for advice to support unpaid carers.

What are the opening hours of the CIL?

  • Monday to Thursday, 9am – 5pm 
  • Friday 9am – 4.30pm
  • Saturday and Sunday, closed
  • Bank holidays, closed

The telephone number is 0141 353 6504. Standard call rates apply.

What can the CIL do to help?

Unpaid carers in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area can enquire about carer supports.  Access to free information and advice is offered for everyone.

The carers information line can

  • Signpost to carers services
  • Access to up-to-date information
  • Signpost to other relevant local supports e.g. local carer centres, partner organisations who can help with specific health conditions e.g. Alzheimer’s Scotland

There is no charge for this service.

What if I can’t get through on the telephone?

There are times when our telephone line is busy. Please leave a message on the answering machine and someone will call you back.

The CIL has no direct link with Glasgow City HSCP’s Home Care service and so is unable to advise on enquiries relating to this service.
