This resource has been created with the hope of helping those affected by bereavement. Losing someone you care about can have a devastating and lasting impact, and this has been made more difficult in some ways during the recent COVID-19 restrictions and the changes in services and supports available. There is help available, and you do not need to do it alone. There is information and links to support services as well as practical information about what needs done and who you might have to contact when someone has died.

A note on language; throughout this resource we will make reference to ‘the person who has died.’ This may seem like a cold term to use but we wanted to recognise that the person’s death will impact on family, friends, colleagues and those who knew the person and we wanted our language to be as inclusive as possible. Everyone will be affected by bereavement at some time in their life, and it is hoped that this resource can be of use to many, however they were connected to the person who has died.
