What help is available for people who self-harm?
If you are having serious thoughts about suicide, and you have a plan and the means to carry it out: call 999 right now.
The UK-wide CASS (Confidential Anonymous Self-Injury Support) Women's Self Injury Helpline is available for women of any age and their friends, families and carers, and currently operates onTuesday to Thursday evenings from 7pm-10pm.
All calls are answered by female volunteers who have received specialist training. The service advises that you can talk about anything you want to and they won't tell anyone you called. You don't have to be in crisis or distress at the time you call, and you can talk to the volunteers for up to half an hour each time they are open.
Self injury Support is a UK-wide support and training organisation which prepares a monthly e-bulletin. They aim to keep you up to date with support, training services, news and research in the area of self-harm and self-injury support.
