Why have suicide prevention activities?
In 2020, 805 probable deaths by suicide were recorded in Scotland (575 males and 230 females). In Glasgow in 2020 there were 104 probable deaths by suicide.
The suicide rate for males remains at around 3 times the rate for females. Roughly every 3-4 days somebody in Glasgow took their own life.
