Why have suicide prevention activities?

In 2020, 805 probable deaths by suicide were recorded in Scotland (575 males and 230 females). In Glasgow in 2020 there were 104 probable deaths by suicide.

The suicide rate for males remains at around 3 times the rate for females. Roughly every 3-4 days somebody in Glasgow took their own life.

Forums

The Glasgow City Suicide Prevention Partnership and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde have created local area forums to help communities tackle suicide prevention locally. They are open to anyone with an interest in preventing suicide in the city. Free tea and coffee are normally available.
